Spiritscape: Wizard or Warrior

Nommad's Ramblings

12/28/09:
It's been an interesting year both in real life and the world of Furcadia. The coming year promises to have just as many challenges and surprises. The "Strings" update when it's released will open up a lot of new possibilities for Spiritscape with the addition of string/text variables not to mention increasing the max DS limit to 12000 lines. It should also fix the bug I've had to wrestle with of the DS lines after line 9120. This will be the 3rd year for Spiritscape and developing it still keeps me entertained. I thank you all for coming around to see what's new and hope to add enough new stuff to keep you all interested and entertained.

11/28/09:
After several months of house hunting I've finally found one and made the move!
It's been months since I've made any significant changes to Spiritscape. That is about to change as I've started making some minor tweaks with some plans for some significant additions. Of course with any significant additions I have to remove some things, but there are so many things to do in Spiritscape the things I take out will hardly be missed.

10/1/09:
Spiritscape: The Return of the Sleeper
Another Wolf Howl is upon us and I have no time to make a dream, but I did manage to add a new version of The Sleeper that has been in many of my old dreams. All new animated graphics and it's set-up to be more of a Raid Type monster for a group of players to fight. Some of the highest level players can kill it alone, so it's not as impossible as it might seem.

8/30/09:
Spiritscape: Lords and Legends
My "news" updates have been few and far between this year but it doesn't mean I'm not doing anything. In fact my passion for improving and adding to Spiritscape continues. With the Dream Package I haven't had to purge or clear out saved accounts in a few months and the saved characters is now well over 400 accounts. The latest version "Lords and Legends" has added new areas and challenges. The Dark Spirit, which is a mindless copy of the player that is fighting it. Once a player has defeated their Dark Spirit they may take on the Dark Lord's Challenge. Besides the development of Spell, Lore, and Weapon Crafting Skills, players can also gain the titles of Lord, Master, and Legend through their actions over the long term. Crafting, Cooking, Hunting, Fishing, and Farming as well as repeatable mini-quests  add to the variety of activities available for players . Spiritscape continues to grow and evolve.

6/22/09:
Spiritscape: Might and Magic
Spiritscape keeps growing and evolving and more and more people have discovered it. The things you can do and ways to develop your character continues to grow, from farming to fishing, to fighting and hunting, to crafting and building, eating, drinking, dancing....
The Latest version now includes a Clan system that can be used for Team games and competition. Each time the dream is reloaded all Clans, Clan Levels, Lords and Masters are cleared so a new contest can begin. Players that join a clan gain the Clan Bonus and any Clan Status Bonus they have earned.
Currently I've been resetting it on Fridays with any updates and bug fixes.

5/30/09:
Spiritscape - Clans Update
The activity in Spiritscape has been pretty good and I think I have the Dream Package to thank for this, since I don't have to really be connected for it to remain open and it's been sitting in the same spot long enough maybe people are starting to find it.
(And I haven't had to purge the player list with 500kb to save stuff)
I haven't made any updates in a while but I've been trying to make a list of little tweaks and wish lists of things to add or change. The next update will try and add a new dimension to the Clans aspect of the dream with Clan Level and member resets each upload. (suitable for tornaments and events) At the same time the Houses that can be built will be easier to build but also be reset with each upload and the max-level a player can be is 25 though you will still be able to "roll-over" your exp and gain training points.
Fairplay and Killer Mantis have far surpassed the "new" max level, and they will be written into any future storyline as Legends as well as have their Special Titles hard-coded into the DS.
Common Quests and Tasks (like farming and crafting) will also be getting an experience boost for people who would rather do something besides fight.

That's the short list of changes in the next update.
Post any ideas you have for a wish-list in the Spiritscape Forum

Spiritscape Core:
I've been very occupied in Real Life, so the updates or news have been sparse this year.
The only thing I've really found time for is a little messing with Spiritscape and the Dream Package makes it nice so it stays connected even when I can't. (except for server resets).
The "Core" is just about done with less than 1k DS left for a SS package to contain.
But a SS package would need tighter account control or an external dabase management interface.... at least for me.
I've had a request for day and night and the ShadowLord  theme to add to the Core.
So, that's what I'll be trying to add next.

3/1/09:
Spiritscape Dream Package:
The mechanics have changed and are now more robust than ever to include the questing and exploring and evolution of SpiritQuest and the PvP and Team play of ClanWars.
I've managed to crunch and optimize the code to fit within the 8k limit.
The PS uses about .5kb per person, so it can only hold about 20 players @ 10kb
I've had SS for along time and always will and it can hold just over 125 @ 64kb
I'm now using a Dream Package so there shouldn't be a problem with 500kb to work with.
I plan on using the Regular map and code as a core with "Special" Maps that take advantage of the DP 300x300, with 2k extra DS Special Quests or ClanWars Team Games.
The Larger Maps will also include more locations players can develop into homes or farms.

1/31/09:
Spiritscape Accounts:
I've really dived into the coding and reworking this past month and turned on auto-save so players that gain 1 level are saved into the PS database. It's been nice to see so many people enjoying it but in just one month the database is close to being full at the SS level (64kb). I've been trying to get players to register their characters on the Spiritscape Forum and have had more luck than ever before, but only about 20% of the regular players have actually signed up. So, I've added a notice that at the beginning of each month I will be deleting all the extra accounts and those that did not register characters will have to start over.

1/06/09:
It's a New Year!
And I'm kicking it off with the Latest Incarnation of Spiritscape where I try and crunch some of the best of what what has come before... SpiritQuest, ClanWars, Evolution, Revolution and  ArenaMaster.
And time to put this into the Archives....
And while I'm at it maybe just a little makeover.
